Sometimes, the best career paths aren’t planned — they just happen. For Audrey Young, Insurance Agent at Brightway Insurance in Rockledge, Florida, her start in the industry was as unexpected as it was life-changing.
“It was ages ago,” Audrey recalls with a smile. “I went into the office to make my car insurance payment, and the agent looked absolutely overwhelmed. I said, ‘It looks like you need help,’ and the agent replied, ‘Yes, when can you start?’ Two weeks later, I was hired, and the rest is history.”
What started as a simple desire to leave restaurant work behind and land an office job quickly turned into a career Audrey fell in love with. Now, 27 years later, she’s a trusted advisor helping Floridians protect what matters most.
Why Audrey Loves Insurance
Insurance isn’t just about numbers on a policy. For Audrey, it’s about connection, trust, and education.
“I love being able to share my knowledge with a client and explain what and why certain coverages are needed,” she says. “When a client has that ‘A ha!’ moment because they understand at last, it makes it all worth it.”
That passion for teaching sets Audrey apart. While many agencies rush through paperwork, Audrey takes the time to walk clients through their coverage line by line — using real-world examples instead of confusing legal jargon.
The Brightway Difference
Audrey is proud to be part of Brightway Insurance, The Steve Trout Agency, a brokerage that allows her to shop rates with multiple carriers. That flexibility means she can fine-tune coverage to create policies that truly fit each client’s unique needs — whether it’s for a home, auto, boat, motorcycle, rental property, condo, or even an RV.
Her service area covers all of Florida, so whether you’re a homeowner in Titusville, a renter in Orlando, or a boater in the Keys, Audrey’s got you covered.
Rolling With the Punches
Like many industries, insurance has faced its share of challenges — especially in Florida.
“During COVID, so many insurance companies either went insolvent or pulled out of Florida completely,” Audrey explains. “Our agency had to rewrite thousands of customers’ policies in a short time frame. It was extremely stressful for everyone. At one point, we had to do it all over again. It seemed like it was never going to end.”
But out of the chaos came resilience. Audrey and her team grew stronger, closer, and more adaptable. “It taught me to roll with the punches and take it all in stride. This too will pass.”
Advice for the Next Generation
If there’s one piece of advice Audrey would give to someone new to the insurance industry, it’s this: be flexible.
“Insurance is constantly changing, sometimes from one day to the next. You have to stay aware of the changes and be ready to adapt.”
It’s wisdom that has carried her through nearly three decades in a profession that is as unpredictable as it is rewarding.
Beyond Business: Building Trust
One thing many people don’t know about Audrey is how far she’ll go to make sure her clients truly understand their coverage.
“Policies are full of ‘legalese’ that can be hard to digest,” she says. “I’ll gladly take the time to explain it line by line so you know exactly how your policy protects you. When people feel confident instead of confused, that’s a win.”
The Power of Networking
Audrey is also an active member of the Invested Networking Group (ING) – Titusville Titans.
“ING has really helped me create long-lasting business relationships with people I trust, and I can confidently refer people to,” she shares. Networking isn’t just about gaining referrals — it’s about surrounding yourself with a circle of professionals who lift each other.
